I'm going to say something primarily because I don't see anybody else saying it.

Woooo! Way to go, Obama! Winning the Nobel Peace Prize, you lucky man! Hey Republicans, SUCK IT! Hah!

You are not going with party doctrine! The official, authorised reply is "Meh."

Seriously, I know Obama hasn't really done anything to deserve it, and that it's more meant to inspire him to do more for world peace in the future, and that Obama himself shares these sentiments.

But after seeing mainly a load of hand-wringing on the left and high dudgeon on the right, I didn't feel like being serious. :}

hehe, best response I've seen EVAR! ;)

Honestly, I'm tired of all the Obama bashing I see going on. I've never seen anywhere near as much Bush bashing and I feel Bush did more to harm this country...

I saw plenty of Bush bashing, but not nearly as many suggestions that Bush should be assassinated. Also, I think Bush got a longer honeymoon before people really went after him.

Of course, with Bush, I think most people didn't really see his true colors until after 9/11/01, almost a year after he was inaugurated. And of course, the Democrats aren't the party who've professionalized the art of character assassination.

Bush got an awful lot of honeymoon even after 9/11. I'd never seen the level of "rally round the president" that happened then and I've been pretty politically aware since 1972 or so (blame Watergate. :).

I think that may have contributed to the level of bitterness that developed afterward. A lot of people bottled up their feelings for quite some time.

I'm sort of a hawk compared to a lot of the people on my friends list, but after 9/11, even I was complaining to one of my older brothers about the mindless jingo-ism I was seeing in the media and public for the first few weeks after it.

Odd. I live in a pretty Republican and conservative place, and what I hear said about Obama is nothing to the level of the rhetoric about Bush.

Then again, I don't watch TV, so I don't hear the talking (empty) heads.

Yeah! The guy I voted for not only won the election, he just got the Nobel Peace Prize! Why shouldn't I celebrate? Pie for everybody!

From the loyal opposition:

I think, "huh?" is sorta the reaction I've heard most from both the Democrats and Republicans I work and live with.

If this had been in a 2 to 3 years time, I think it would have been much better. It could have been a crowning symbol of his career and something that could have really enhanced his stature, especially in foreign policy.

My reaction is "Congrats, Mr. President!".

But then again, I'm more from the Colin Powell wing of the party and wish the rabid right would shut up.

Nobush Peace Prize

(Link)
Yaay. Look, a golden retriever could have won the Nobel prize if we elected it to replace Bush. It has nothing to do with anything Obama did, it's just the fact he's replacing someone that the world despises. You could put a stack of logs in office and it'd get the Nobel Peace Prize for not being Bush. Oh, and maybe being black has something to do with it.
