If you've looked at Google's home page today, you might have noticed something weird they did with the logo.

It's in Morse code, and if you click on it, you'll get a page of search results about Samuel F.B. Morse. He invented Morse code, and today was his birthday. In honor of this, I've changed the message in my "code" icon, used on this post.

EDIT: Oops, I wasn't careful enough the first time around and the code was getting munged at the linebreaks. Try it now!

Its too bad he didn't live long enough to see his code applied to wireless (radio) transmissions. Though 80 was a "Ripe old age" back in those days ^_^

Well, 80 beats world average life expectancy by a solid decade, so it's a pretty good age now, too.

Although that's dragged down a lot by infant mortality -- all those very low numbers. Your life expectancy at, say, age 30 is considerably higher than the overall average.

The icon was probably a lot easier to create than it will be to read - haven't had time to decode it (or, more likely, to write code to decode it :) )

Damn, us Canadians get transferred to google.ca, which has a non-Morse picture. (Usually they ahve the same pic, but not today, unfortunately). My work computer I think is on a US server, but didn't know about this then.

Got a link that I and my fellow citizens can see it at?

(And, why is it that a lot of furries are hams? (And none of them own a pig fursuit?) My dad is a ham (but hasn't been on the air in years), and back when I was a teen I studied for the test, but never got around to taking it.)
