So, Hurricane Ike's coming. We're not worried, because this house has withstood Alicia and Allison, and our zip code is not in the evacuation zone. I moved the garbage bin into the garage, and we'll probably need to move that potted plant on the porch as well, but that's about it.

Ike might ruin the Steelers-Browns game on Sunday night! Imagine the untold horror and suffering...

Yay yipee! You can thus ignore my panicked email earlier today from work (my boss said his Houstonian friend had to evac in a hurry, so that made me think of you.) I look forward to you playing CNN reporter and posting updates from ChezTurtle.

The next morning, and the news describes things out your way as being rather dire. Whether you are still toughing it out there or not, I hope you are safe.

Remember that news always reports the worst case scenario (because it sells) - I remember during the 1999 "Flood of the Century" I had people write to me assuming that the entire south half of Manitoba was underwater or something!

It was a bit disturbing to see KT's IRC connection drop from "Ping Timeout" at around 11:20pm Central time last night (right around I think when it made landfall), but I know that KT has a thick shell and will survive - power probably jsut went out then (anticipatedly so).
