01:00 pm - Kidneystone part 3

Hmm, the emerging pattern seems to be that the discomfort is worst late in the evening when it's close to bedtime. During the day I can handle it, and it's only late at night when it really gets to be too much. This suggests that the problem is aggravated by sitting in my computer chair for long hours. I guess I should take more get-up-and-walk-around breaks.

And yeah, drink more water, I know that. If I can just keep remembering to do it...

Keep a REALLY BIG water glass on your desk, drink absent-mindedly, and get up for refills whenever it's empty.

I drink from a 28-ounce mason jar at home.

I try to do that normally. The problem is when I need a refill, and I say to myself, "I'll get a refill after I read this article... and this one... ooh, what's this? ...This makes me want to play around with patterns in Photoshop," etc. It's something I'll have to work out on my own, I guess.

Can you put something like a Brita pitcher in your room? There's still the bit about getting up to get ice if you want colder water, but it's a start...

Just park a 12-pack (aka refrigerator pack) of something by the computer. That should take a while to empty. :-)

Boy do I hear you there. If aliens ever wanted to enslave humanity, all they'd have to do is make the most captivating website ever.

(At least you don't have a wife and turtlets that need your attention as opposed to the computer's ... )

dang, KT - I hope this situation gets better for you. I am wondering if I have been having the same problems... due to health insurance follies - I may never get this checked - at least till May.

I suggest canberry juice along with the water. Ginger Ale, preferably Vernor's, seems to help my tummy troubles as well...

would a *huggle* hurt right now?

Actually, he said "canberry." Maybe that was a typo for "Canberra." Or "Cadbury." Would one of those juices appeal to you?

Cadbury juice sounds chocolatey. Or caramely. Which both sound yummy, except I should probably stay away from them if I don't want more kidneystones.

UPDATE!!! ;-)

Don't know how cranberry turned to canberry - but you got it...

I do also recommend enteric coated peppermint gels... they have helped. I was also recently told to drink papaya juice *ugh* - I'll let you know how that goes...

*huggles*

Hi Kinkyturtle, Hi, it's Rob. I've sent you some messages in the past.
Yeah, sometime I'll stop being so lazy + get my own LJ account. *Rob Blushes*

I have my own history with kidney stones issues. If you don't mind me mentioning some ideas I have about K stones, Here is what I do with or about them.

I drink about 11 oz of actual lemonade a day. My Dr. says 8 oz (?) ofreal lemonade or the juice of 1 lemon a day can stop food or other things from turning into K stones. I'm also supposed to drink about eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day to help "flush the system" each day. I think maybe spite is also close enough to being almost clear water that I can substitute some of those eight glasses with glasses of spite, so I don't have to just drink water + lemonade all day.

But *Rob uses legal talk to cover his hide* : ) Probably the best thing would be to tell your urologist about your symptoms + see what he reccomends about what: lemonade, water + such to drink or ther things to do healthwise for kidneys.

I just wanted to post this comment to uh....post what Kidney things have been working for me that might be of help with K S issues that you might find. Right now, I think I'll walk around the White house with a sign saying: "flush the system". Heh heh.

Have a Good Day, Rob
