EDIT: This post was version 2 of my "visited states" map, but to simplify things I've moved the list and form to a more recent post. To get a map of your own, go there. (And yes, the offer is open indefinitely.) :}

Me again! Whee!

I've done some reworking of this list to filter out some inaccuracies in the original. On reflection, I'm almost certain I've never been in Nebraska (and can't verify whether I flew over it). Also, if I visited Arlington and DC and then took a bus to NYC, I must logically have been in Delaware and Maryland--though I'm almost certain that the bus driver would have worked to avoid driving through Philly, so no land visits to PA for me.

However, on my last flight to NYC (flying out of Vegas), I looked out the window on my left and saw what was unmistakably Chicago and the south shore of Lake Michigan. A few minutes later the captain (who, if he can be believed, was named Paco Rabinowitz) announced that we were just flying over South Bend. I didn't see any more massive lakes out my window that flight, which means that I've verifiably flown over Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania (I'd already taken a road trip to Chicago in '94, with Paul Hendry, to see Jordan Peot).

Finally, I clarified the road trip to Florida I went on when I was a year old. I labeled LA, MS, and AL as 2, because if I just drove through them and couldn't remember it, there's no way that should count more than FL where I stayed a few weeks.

Here we go:

10 AZ, OR
9 MO
8 BC,CA, DC, IL, NV, NM, NY, Sonora, WA, WY
7 Sinaloa, VA
6 CO, KS, TX
5 DE, MD, NJ, OK, UT
3 IN, OH, PA
2 AL, FL, LA, MS
1 AK, AR, CT, GA, HI, ID, IA, KY, ME, MA, MI, MN, MT, NE, NH, NC, ND, RI, SC, SD, TN, VT, WV, WI

Just to verify: you've got Sonora and Sinaloa switched around from the way you had them last time. Is that a correction, or a new mistake?

New and improved

10. CA, WA, OR
8. MT, WY, SD, IL, MI, MO, KS, UT, BC
7. NV
6. MN, WI, IN, ID (mostly fuel or rest area stops)
5. CO
2. TN
remainder 1

I think that covers everything.

Oh hell, I might as well show off my extremely small itinerary.

10 - Lived: Connecticut
9 - College: (Connecticut)
8 - 1+ Night: Florida, Maine, Massachusetts
7 - Less than a day: New Brunswick, Rhode Island?, Vermont?
6 - Traveled with stops: none
5 - Traveled through: New Hampshire
4 - Stopover: none
3 - Flown over: I can't really verify any flightpaths, unless there's a good website out there to compute them. Pretty much whatever gets someone from BDL (Hartford, CT) to Florida would work, although I don't know if that counts as "really far inland" or "way the hell out over the Atlantic".
2 - Too young: none
1 - Never been: All states east of Flown Over, all provinces except NB, Mexico

Here you go!
Since you couldn't verify anything, I didn't mark any states 3, because it's right there in the description: "can verify".

I have made myself a map with MS MapPoint of all the places I've visited/taken a trip for, but with lines to denote the trip route (or, in the case of trips my wife has taken before she met me, based on what she's told me of the route, which hasn't been much). There are five classes of lines, when a road has been travelled on by more than one "class", they are placed on the map with the higher class number on top:

5. Travelled by all four of us (me, wife, Chantal, and Christopher) - orange
4. Travelled by three of us (me, wife, and Chantal (Christopher either not being born yet or still in hospital) - yellow
3. Travelled by two of us (me and the wife, either before kids were born, or a vacation away from the kids) - purple
2. Travelled by me (before I met wife, either with family or solo) - red
2. Travelled by wife (before she met me, either with family or solo) - blue
(Bottom two tied as routes do not overlap)

If you're interested, I can send you the MS MapPoint I made - I don't have the program here at home though (only at work).

I find it a little more accurate as, especially with the big Canadian provinces, colouring the whole province is somewhat misleading as you may have only seen a bit of it.

Yes, I would like! I still have the .psp file of your original map, is it possible to send me the version for this map?

Anyways, my stats are (for myself only, might be a bit complicated plotting everyone in the family on the map, per my previous post, the way you have it):

BC 8
Alberta 8
Saskatchewan 8
Manitoba 10
Ontario 8
Quebec 7

Washington 8
Oregon 8
Idaho 6
Montana 8
Wyoming 8
N. Dakota 8
Minnesota 8
Wisconsin 6
Michigan 8

(BTW, any reason the Canadian provinces aren't alphabetized like their American and Mexican counterparts?)

Here's your map!

Here's the .psd file I'm working from, although it's more complicated than the previous version, because it's all antialiased, and it's set up for my idiosyncratic method of coloring the states in. But you're welcome to fiddle around with it if you like:

I listed the Canadian provinces in an order that suits me best: the southern tier first, then the northern tier, west to east for both. There are few enough provinces it hardly seems necessary to alphabetize them.
