I made a fake Windows dialog box! I don't expect anybody to get the joke unless they've seen the British series "The Vicar of Dibley".

I've seen the episodes from the first disc of the series... I need to rent the rest.

That looks like a cross between Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. In any case, it brings back memories.

I selected the "95/98" option when I was making it, at this site (which I forgot to link to in the main post).

We used to play practical jokes on people in the office by taking a screen shot of an error dialog, then making it their desktop wallpaper.

Should take a screen shot of the BSOD and make that their screen saver.

Hilarity abounds.

There's a screen saver for X Windows called "BSOD." It not only emulates a Windows BSOD (complete with simulated memory dump), it also can simulate kernel panics on multiple UNIX flavors, MacOS crashing into the debugger, and Amiga Guru Meditation Errors, among others.

I wish I had a cabinet that I could lock myself in and swear when things go bad.

That puts part of Starship Titanic into perspective. If you ask the Liftbot a yes-or-no question, he goes, "No no no, NO NO NO NO NO no no no no no yes."
