Mars Needs SMALLER Molly Bolts, Dammit - The online computery journal thingy of a turtle

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

The idiot at the hardware store sold me molly bolts that are slightly too big. I took 'em home and I could force them into the holes, but only up to the far ends of the anchor arms.

In desperation and determination, I whacked 'em into the holes with a hammer, and was finally able to attach the toilet paper holder. Goodbye gas station!

But I don't wanna do that with the other four. Before I can mount the towel bar, I gotta go back and buy smaller molly bolts.

Also, my back hurts worse today. Basically I can't sit or lie down without pain, and walking around doesn't help. I've gotta see the doctor again.

Kit, Balloo, and Mrs. Cunningham want you to give Molly her bolts back.

I'd like to re-recommend the chiropractor, painkillers may help the symptoms, but some x-rays and the like would help diagnose the problem.

Maybe the self tapping wall anchors would work? Something like these?

I liked these when I was doing security camera installs. Mostly because I didn't have to go find a drill bit, and I couldn't drill the hole the wrong size and screw things up. I'd just run the anchor in with a screw gun, then run the screw into the anchor. They aren't quite as strong as molly bolts, toggle bolts, or other expanding fasteners, but they're a lot better than the press-in plastic anchors.

I used to like those. the big problem with them is if you overtighten the screw it will force that to dig itself through the drywall and create a bigger ugly hole and you're back to molly bolts. But they're nice as long as you're carefull. the little plastic ones are meant for when your drilling into a stud and not really when you're mounting on just dry wall.

Back Pain

Something you might try is 5-10 sit ups.

It realigns the spine and pumps in cerebrospinal fluid in. Pretty much if you back pops and cracks in the mornings it maybe worth trying.

Works for me and it may work for you too. Can't beat the cost of free either.

See, when I first read this yesterday I read it as "Mars Needs Molly Guards," and ever since then I kept thinking you were child-proofing the bathroom. Especially with the unbreakable toothbrush holder requirement. I kept looking for some reference in previous entries to a new cute kid moving in for no reason except to boost ratings.

I'd like to introduce you to Li'l Tommy!

I'm teaching him to come into the room, say something witty, and then leave.
