See, since we couldn't go to CocoCay, I decided to have a swim in the ship's pool. I discovered that the pool water is salty, because I could taste it when I accidentally swallowed some. But I was having so much fun that I stayed in for about an hour.
When I got out, I felt weak. At first I thought this was because I'd been spending the past hour getting used to being weightless. But then I could barely stand up in the shower. And when I headed up to deck 11 to have lunch with other furs, I felt dizzy and nauseated by the time I got to the top, and I saw spots. So I headed back down to my stateroom and collapsed on my bed.
I took a nap for about an hour, and felt cold even though I was under a blanket. I was worried, so I decided to see if the ship has a doctor.
I was directed down to the infirmary on deck 1. First I had to deal with a lot of rigmarole involving forms and taking blood pressure. Then I saw the doctor and described my symptoms, and he told me I was dehydrated. He had me lie down on a bed and get an IV drip and an EKG. I lay there for about an hour, napping on and off, waiting for the bag to empty.
After that, I was feeling better, and starting to get hungry. The nurse gave me a shot of Reglan and Zantac (anybody know what those are for? I think I asked but didn't get a clear answer).
So I went up and had a late lunch in the Windjammer Cafe. Then I felt tired again and took another nap, causing me to miss dinner. But once I woke up after that, I felt fine for the rest of the day.
Sooo... today I've signed up for kayaking, snorkeling and seeing dolphins. The snorkeling has me worried; I think I'll skip that part. I do NOT want a repeat of yesterday's incident.
