The War on Christmas is REAL, I tell you, just like SANTA CLAUS

Aaaand Johnny Hart, who draws B.C., totally misses the point and takes up arms in the mythical War On Christmas. Nobody says "Happy Holiday" out of fear of uttering the dreaded C word, Johnny. They say "Happy Holidays", which is shorthand for the ungainly mouthful that is "Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, happy Kwanzaa, good Yule, or whatever you celebrate at this time of year. Oh, and happy New Year in case I don't see you till then."

See, "Happy Holidays" includes Christmas. What are Christians upset about? That people won't do them the arrogant favor of saying "Merry Christmas" and ignoring all the non-Christians out there? If so, then they're behaving like the child who gets the same size piece of cake as his brother, but still whines that his own piece should be bigger, or indeed that he should get the whole cake. To which I say: grow up.

Or, to be as charitable as possible (isn't that what this season is supposed to be about?), if these people merely have the mistaken notion that the rest of us would rather choke on fruitcake than say "the dreaded C word"... well, y'know, guys, even if you weren't 100% blind wrong about that, it would still just be a clash of sensibilities, and what makes you think you deserve consideration and the other guy doesn't? That doesn't make you look any better, guys. I'm still gonna go with "grow up" on this one.

I've got nothing against people who want to say "Merry Christmas". What I have a problem with is people who want to make everyone else say it.

Happy Holidays, everybody!
