Meme from babsbunny

Post some lyrics to a children's song you remember listening to as a (child, pup, kit, young turkle, whatever) to your journal. Along with the lyrics, post these instructions as well!

One of my favorite records as a kid was Marlo Thomas's "Free to Be You and Me". The title song was really cool! It was by the New Seekers and it went something a-like a-diss-a:

"There's a land that I see
Where the children are free
And I say it ain't far
To this land from where we are.

Take my hand, come with me
Where the children are free
Come with me, take my hand,
And we'll liiiiive...

In a land where the children are free!
In a land in the green country!
In a land by the shining sea!
And you and me are free to be...
You and me."

And just because I feel like it, here's a bonus:
Free to Be You and Me has songs, stories, skits and poems on it. Here's a poem called "Don't Dress Your Cat in an Apron":

"Don’t dress your cat in an apron
Just ‘cause he’s learning to bake.
Don’t put your horse in a nightgown
Just ‘cause he can’t stay awake.
Don’t dress your snake in a muu-muu
Just ‘cause he’s off on a cruise.
Don’t dress your whale in galoshes
If she really prefers overshoes.

A person should wear what he wants to
And not just what other folks say.
A person should do what he likes to –
A person’s a person that way."
