I'm tempted to make some witty comment here about how Information Theory tells us that the actual information contained in a message is inversely related to its predictability.

That's why compression algorithms work.

Apparently I don't read the jumble as easily as some. I've still got to work out what most of the words are one at a time.

Same here, I have some problems with recognition as the pattern-matching isnt perfect. (It works better if words have the same shapes. For things, tlrujs works better than tylfzs, for example.)

It occurred to me as I was reading it, that I would have had much more difficulty had I not already seen this once without the letters substituted. (Jumbled, but all the right letters.)

You've only seen it once? I posted this last night after seeing it for, like, the tenth time!

*grins* I'm sure you realize it, but it's b/c KT has replaced the letters that are supposed to be there with other letters. The order may not matter, but spelling sure does. :p

I'm making fun of that thing that's been going around. The original text reads:

"Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe."

This thing has been circulating all over the place, and I decided it needed makin' fun of. :}

(But as I pointed out to </a></b></a>[info]haystack, there's been no such study at Cambridge. I think I agree with someone on [info]grammarpolice who hypothesized that this is an especially popular meme because people want to use it as an excuse not to bother using spellcheck.)

The funny thing is, that "Cambridge study" doesn't exist. This has been debunked on Snopes.
