06:44 pm - Bronx Zoo's Cobra

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

Heard about this? An Egyptian cobra has escaped from the Bronx Zoo, and is now doing some sightseeing around New York City, and tweeting about it, much to the chagrin of the Bronx zookeeper, who is also tweeting.

Sample tweets from the cobra:

"I want to thank those animals from the movie "Madagascar." They were a real inspiration."

"Donald Trump is thinking about running for president?! Don't worry, I'll handle this. Where is Trump Tower exactly?"

"It's getting pretty cold out. I think it's probably time to crash. Oh look, an apartment window someone left open just a crack. Perfect!"

I wouldn't be surprised if they fall in love and elope to the Bahamas after realizing how much they really mean to each other.

I first learned of the BZC from George Takei, who tweeted:
This snake got more followers in one day than I did in 3 months. No, I don't mean Charlie Sheen.

I was most fond of "On top of the Empire State Building! All the people look like little mice down there. Delicious little mice."

I heard about the cobra's account, but not the keeper's. So cute.

One part of that article doesn't seem to make sense...

"It's Twitter profile listed the reptile as "an Egyptian cobra out on the town."

The species' more common home, however, is North Africa."

Um, isn't Egypt *in* North Africa?
