05:39 pm - Rush-hour x English Tea = twee road rage

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

It's an interesting experience listening to Paul McCartney's "English Tea" from his recent album "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" while driving in rush-hour traffic near my house. I find myself changing the lyrics on the fly, to things like:

Miles and miles of English garden
Going way too slow for me
Lines of hollyhocks and roses
Can't see over your rear end
Asshole

Do not walk in front of me
I am getting quite angry
It's a case
Of road rage
On a Thursday evening

etc.

Ah, idiot drivers, they do so liven up the day. The only one I can excuse is me. :)

I think someone should write a book of road-rage Haiku!

If you don't have enough idiot drivers down there, I'd be happy to send you ours. We have plenty.

There's not a place in the world that doesn't have enough idiot drivers, or even the right amount. You lay a patch of asphalt down anywhere in the world, next thing you know there'll be an idiot driver on it.

My personal favorite is a very common breed:

1. I'm driving about 10MPH above the speed limit in the fast lane, keeping a safe 3 second distance behind the guy in front.

2. Idiot decides that 10MPH over the speed limit is not fast enough for him, he passes me on the right, gets half a car length ahead of me, then veers into my lane without using turn signals.

3. I have to slow down to maintain a cushion behind the idiot, risking a rear-end collision from the driver behind me if he's not wide awake.

Seems to happen almost every day.
