Arrived in Toronto today and had fun with babsbunny.

Feh! Customs decided to pull me over, search through all my stuff and ask me a bunch of humiliating personal questions. I had to wait for an hour for them to decide I was harmless.

So far I haven't seen much of Toronto; I've been too busy peering at their cryptic street signs trying to navigate my way around. But later in the day, Babs took me out to get pizza and we had fun!

Ah yes, G-20, great time to be a Toronto tourist. Your collection of cartoons must have designated you as an anarchist, and they're very protective of their archists in Canada.

I forgot that the G-20 was going on there. That would explain why they're so strict right now.

Your dark beard must make you look close enough to Middle Eastern.

I went through Detroit, Michigan to Toronto and I had a California license plate. They brought out the drug sniffing dogs for my car! Of course, all Californians are potheads and druggies, man.

Welcome (back?) to Canada! While I'm not in Toronto proper, I can see it from my 10th-floor apartment window.
Quick, go to a north-facing window and wave! :)

I gather that Canada is on an even more extensive anti-child-porn crusade than the U.S. is, so that might be part of it.

That would probably explain why the customs guy in Buffalo seemed interested only in checking books in my car. (Fortunately he only flipped through a few books and let me go. (One of the books was my private little porn book that I only show to trusted friends, and he looked in it! The fact that I refer to this invasion of my privacy as "fortunate" is effed up.))

I think they have one of those stupid laws where even art of characters that appear underage can be considered child porn, even if no children were ever involved in creating it.

All the worst border crossing stories I've heard involved U.S. customs, when re-entering the country, though. I knew one guy who had his laptop confiscated by them.
