Furry Fiesta was fun!

Highlights:
Games of Werewolf that got progressively crazier, with the addition of weird characters such as the Werehamster, the Weregerbil, the Fool and the Devil.
"Titanic: The Animated Movie". Yes, it exists. Fortunately, it was MSTed by Shockwave and Corsi. A movie that takes place on the Titanic should NOT have a rapping dog. Fortunately, we were spared the 12-minute credit sequence.
Lunch at Tokyo One with Draconis, Chakawolf, Durango, Tobias, and one of the staffers whose name I didn't catch. The bearded guy who looks like Paul Giamatti.

During Closing Ceremonies, the theme for next year's Furry Fiesta was announced: the '70s. Some people in the audience groaned, but there were a lot of good things that came out of the '70s: movies such as The Godfather, Jaws, Star Wars, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc.; music by artists such as Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, the Who, Fleetwood Mac, etc. I'm curious to see what gets done with it.

I've seen the Nostalgia Critic review of Titanic: The Animated Movie. Oh, it looked painful...

While personally I'd welcome a little disco and vinyl (and maybe have a loop of 70's era school films running; I can find plenty!), I sure hope they don't put out a fishbowl for exchanging keys nor recreate the cocaine parties in the backrooms of Studio 54....

The pain was eased by the fact that between the riffing and the uproarious laughter (Shockwave and Corsi are FUNNY FUNNY guys!), I couldn't hear half the dialogue. I got the sense I wasn't missing a damn thing. :}

A key-swapping party at a modern hotel would be problematic anyway, given that the room keys are cards that are all identical.

Oh yes, and the fact that the guy hosting the movie was playing it on his office laptop, which was running Vista, which kept going into sleep mode or whatever every 10 minutes or so and requiring a password to wake up, and insisted on doing this no matter what settings he fiddled with, so he had to sit there and jiggle the cursor every few minutes during the movie...

...and whenever he left it too long, the screen would go black for half a second, prompting him to jiggle the cursor, at which point his desktop wallpaper became visible for a split second before going back to the movie...

...and his desktop wallpaper depicted a chakat in some sort of come-hither pose. It was tasteful and no bits were showing, but every time it appeared, Corsi would yell "PORN!" After a while, we were all yelling "PORN!"

I thought the fishbowls people put their keys in were so they could get plastered at parties while the host quietly put their keys away so they wouldn't go back to their cars and start driving drunk. Shows how much I know.

I've heard of that version of Titanic! Shameless knockoff of the Disney classic.

Ah, the 70's, The Muppet Show, Wonderful World of Disney, and Sesame Street in their prime. Also lots of Hanna-Barberra cartoons that didn't get really bad until the 80's.

Ah yes, the Muppet Show! I'd almost forgotten. Hmm... maybe I should cosplay as the Swedish Chef.

Doesn't matter. There's been Klingons, Stormtroopers, and Spider-Man at furry cons; there were even two Spies from Team Fortress 2 at TXFF!

Of course, it's always more fun when the character can interact with furries in some clever way. For instance, one of the Spies was disguised as Krystal from Starfox Adventures; this disguise consisted simply of a paper mask with a picture of Krystal's face on it.

Now imagine the Swedish Chef at a furry con, grabbing hold of a fursuiter [OOC: with permission, of course!] and describing in mock Swedish his recipe for roast fox... or skunk casserole... or dragon flambé...

Okay, that could work. And he might bring some food puppet that "comes to life" and resists when he tries to work with it.

I was trying to think of a furry version of Richard Nixon just now. A jowly dog would be obvious, but when I started toying with his name, I thought "Vixen." Ick, that's one combo I can do without.

Sounds like a fun con!

So next year is a 70's theme, eh? By any chance, does the con do anything with video? (eg. Youtube ad a few months before, the con, or maybe something at opening ceremonies or FVS)

I'm not offering to make a video, but if someone else is, I might be able to offer some 70's-style title effects. I would need to design and build the circuits first though, and who knows if the haywired contraption would work... but if there might be an interest, I might just give it a try...

I checked out the local Dallas alt-rag's slideshow and thought this was a terrific costume mod:

PS - KT, you're a typography nerd, so you might appreciate this. Some graphic designer, Alex Merto, designed his own font called the effing typeface, giving each letter elements of various sexual fetishes and ideas:

I saw this and said "sweet jesus, a logo!" People can finally retire that rotten paw print that's been the de facto representation of all things furry.

I got to see that sock mask earlier on, before the foot part started sagging. Wish I'd taken a picture...

Heh! Furry logo! Nice.
