Dharma & Greg: The stock market scene - The online computery journal thingy of a turtle

04:00 am - Dharma & Greg: The stock market scene

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

1:10 - 1:38 in the above video is one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen on TV. Jenna Elfman makes funny faces!

ETA: No, when I say Jenna Elfman makes funny faces, I mean Jenna Elfman makes HILARIOUS faces. I cannot help laughing every time I see the scene! Greg suggests that the stock market might be too complicated for Dharma, and she mocks him by doing a grotesque caricature of an airheaded bimbo. Also funny is Greg's helpless look of oh-crap-I-just-put-my-foot-in-my-mouth-again-I'm-doomed.

The rest of the episode is good, too. As I recall, it's about Dharma trying to save a failing company that sells women's fashions for men, called edrag.com, and Greg's dad Edward coming out of retirement to help.

Physical comedy is something I rarely see from women. Let alone so well-done.

If only I weren't distracted by Jenna's boniness.

It is precisely because women are always held to men's standards of appearance that it is difficult for them to do things like comedy and politics. Men will always be like, "Yeah, she's funny. I just wish she could be hotter."

Now, now. It's not a lack of hotness that bothers me; it's a painful lack of health. I think her BMI is more dangerous than, say, Roseanne Barr's.

Out of curiosity, any male actors or comedians whose health you worry about just by looking at them?

I can think of a nonprofessional example, called "ShoJoJim" on deviantART and "Unforgettable" on YouTube. I've seen a few others whose names I don't know.

I don't think this is a double standard, because very few women fit my criteria either.

You want simply laugh out loud comedy? The funniest thing taht TV has ever produced, and likely ever will produce, because it's just that damn funny, is the "Ham Radio" episode of Frasier. The whole. damn. thing. is literal "rolling on the floor laughing" calibre, *all* the Emmies for writing should just go to the team who came up with this brilliant episode.

Find at You Tube Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

(Note, thecanuckguy is not responsible for soiled undergarments resulting from laughter induced by this episode.)
