LA is a great big freeway

Did you visit Anaheim and Cucamonga?

Do you know the way to San Jose?

Yes, I do know the way to San Jose. Drive I-5 north, which goes like this: /\_____ until you get near Los Banos, then ride the roller coaster that is 152 to Gilroy, then take US-101 and try to ignore all the potholes.

Prof_Farnsworth> AZUUUUUUUUUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And, bah, turkles don't know winter. I'm capturing you and bringing you to Winnipeg in winter. (Today would be a good example, your average Winnipegger would consider the low 30s F of today an exceptionally warm winter (the weathermen have been saying so). You'd freeze solid.)

You know what?

I'm sick and tired of hearing that shit. "You don't know what cold is, I'm going to drag you up here and stick you naked in the snow, see how you like it!" I know you're just trying to be funny, but I've heard it a million times and it has never made me laugh.

See, people from different regions of the globe grow up being used to different climates. I come from Houston, TX, where it often gets up to 90 degrees in the summer, and when it gets down to the 50s I consider that cold. I know your experience is different. You must know mine is different. Stop acting like I'm ignorant and threatening to kidnap me, because the joke DOES NOT WORK. Seriously, dude. I got that so damn often from Vakko and I don't need it anymore. Please, knock it off.

(And yes, I fully realize the irony of using an icon with a penguin in it. It's just as ironic that the penguin lives on a tropical island.)

*reaches into her skull, extracts a piece of her mind, and then hands it to you*

I have to side with KT on this one, having heard my share of broken-record humour about one's region. And being Canadian like me, I'm sure you'll agree with me when I mention how annoying it is to hear "Well, you're a Canuck! You must really like this cold weather!" Dude. Tolerate? Yes. But not like, and not love. Who loves being cold? Not me! Heck, I know many a fellow Torontonian bitching about how overly snowy and miserable it was last year. :P

*bouncebounceDataDataData* - what the? Oh, right, I've got a piece of babsbrain now! :)

I suppose I should put myself on the other foot, as I can't take the heat very well (anything over 25C is too hot for me - 12 to 22C is the ideal temp range for me) and I'd probably cringe at the thought of being at a hot place like Houston instead of laughing at it.

My comedy is so inured to "Winnipeg humour" (trust me, after either performing on, or watching comedy on Winnipeg stages for almost 20 years now, I've got a good idea of what "Winnipeg humour" is) - that I do forget about other people being proud of their weather like we're proud of our cold.

Snowball to the head accepted from both of you. :)

It's not even that I'm proud of my weather. It's just that the "joke" ain't funny.

Though I could easily make fun of it... "Bah! You northerners don't know what cold is! Come on down to Houston next winter! It'll be in the 50s and you'll be walking around in a T-shirt, saying 'Duhhh, it's not cold,' and we'll say 'HA! Yes it is!' That'll show you!" :}
