Culver's is waaaay better than the previous fast food burger joint I relied on (Burger King). And unlike BK, their fries are MUCH better.

I agree with KT, though. Next time I go to Culver's, I'm getting a double! Even though I shouldn't.

Fries IMHO

I've never liked BK's fries. They are about as tasteless as they come. Arby's used to be the same until they came out with their "Homestyle fries", which are marginally better. (Best to go with Curly fries).

Culver's fries are WONDERFUL! They rate up there with Wendy's fries! which are my fav!

Oh, also Steak-n-Shake's "shoestring" fries are lame as well :P

Just my fried two cents ;)

Alas, the Wendy's here closed a while back and nothing has taken its place. There is an Arby's, but it's either "potato cakes" or that Ringworm Special that is the &%#$ curly fries. Last time I wanted roast beef and proper fries I went to Arby's for the roast beef and then, so help me, went to McDonald's for the fries.

hehe, I don't blame you :P

I don't know if you remember Rax restaurants. They were alot like Arby's, though their regular roast beef sandwich was always 99 cents!
I didn't like their sauce, so I stocked up on Arby's sauce packages and took them with me to Rax ^_^

I don't recall ever seeing a Rax. I'm usually west of their region.

Tall Qai is tall! Reminds me of the regular drives a pal and I would make from Ann Arbor, Michigan, down to Bowling Green, Ohio, for the Rocky Horror Picture Show. (Seriously, it was the nearest place to go on a regular basis.) I'd stick my head out of the sunroof because, well, there wasn't a whole lot of room in his sporty little car.

We'd also listen to the Tempest 2000 soundtrack on the way. Bitchin'.

My Yaris doesn't have a sunroof, of course, so in real life Qai just put the seat back as far as it would go and tilted it some.

Oh, man, I remember the "Ladybugs 12" segment from "Sesame Street."
Thanks for that.
Believe it or not, my father and I saw seven swans a swimming on Lake Otelaunee while birdwatching on Christmas Day.

I don't get the illustrative references in panels 1 and 3 of page 2-1. What's with the scissor arms on the sign, and what's with the Pat Sajak hair on you?

Well, I drew the sign, and then noticed that with its interstate shield head, big rectangular KTA torso and two legs, the sign was clearly a robot! And of course robots need arms.

And that's not Pat Sajak hair, that's Alfred E. Neuman hair. It ties in with the price ("Our price - $1.59 - CHEAP!")

I was going to ask the same thing about the hair - after hearing the explanation though ISDGI. (Maybe I just haven't read enough MAD Magazine, if that's true, something's really, really, really, REALLY wrong with my life!)

Isn't "Our price - $PRICE - CHEAP!" on every issue's cover?

It seems they're still doing that... sort of. I just found the cover of the June 2008 issue online, and it says "$4.99 CHEAP!" So they dropped the words "our price", but they still have "cheap" on there.

Thanks:) I was wondering, too. I read MAD back in the day but forgot that bit. Thanks for continuing to do the diaries, KT:) They are lots of fun to read.

Ah, yes, I remember that now. Phew, I can continue to call myself a MAD Magazine fan again!

(Trivia point - I even have the MAD magazine board game (object of the game, go aournd the board and *lose* all your money (instead of win), KT, you would LOVE that game!!!) - one of the characters drawn on the cover of the MAD magazine board game was the inspiration for what Weirdguy looked like, copied him directly from the game board cover (I didn't know KT or anyone else here way back then, so I had to find my own way to give him a "look") - Canuckguy, of course, is not copied from the MAD board game cover, that is KT's art ... )
