I just realized... the last few days here in Houston, it's been somewhat warm. Like, upper 60's, low 70's. If I wanted to, I could gloat about it to people up in more northern parts of the country who are having to deal with snow and ice. But I'm not going to, because that's the kinda guy I am.

...

That's okay. When you're roasting in mid-summer, I'll simply remind you that it's in the upper 60's to low 70's here in Seattle. *grin*

And it's almost as convenient as "heating", except for taking more electricity and not having the option to chuck some wood into the fireplace. *grin*

I'll take cold over heat anyday. One can always put more clothing on, but there's a limit to taking it off....

You mean, we don't get any breaks here? The winter, -40 (F or C take your pick) is not uncommon at all, especially if windchill is factored in (but sometimes even the thermometer reaches it at least once during the season). The summers are very nice (if you like heat, which I don't), has been known to get up to 37C/100F. (Just a couple hours north of here is one of the ten best beaches in the world as rated by Playboy magazine - again if you're into beaches. Probably because of the incredibly fine white sand at the beach that has to be seen to be believed.)

Or, as I heard a comedian say (possibly about a different place): "In the winter, it's colder than hell; in the summer it's hotter than hell - I'm starting to think ... 'I could live in hell!'"

It's official, the Northwest Mafia must conspire to liberate you from Houston to force you live up here. Mwhahaha!

I might do that at some point, if Texas starts getting really stupid or something.

I got all my stuff here. Moving would be a MAJOR project. When I say really stupid, I mean like if Texas finally went totally insane and seceded and outlawed all parties except the Republicans and banned sushi or something.

It doesn't work if you actually like snow and cold. This is the first truly White Christmas we've had in a good while. I can't remember the last time we had this much snow on the ground at the end of December. :)

*tosses a snowball at you*

The last few days were pretty good ones for visiting in the Houston area.

70s and 80s in Miami, weather has been beautiful.

And I'm sitting in an airport right now waiting for my flight to New York.

The irony!

we've had Christmases in the 50's before. they kinda sapped the spirit of the holiday.

I'll take a white Christmas any year.

I bet you'd hate living in Australia then, where they have Christmas in summer. :}

In Massachusetts we had some beautiful snowy days surrounding the solstice but it was a wet Christmas - good day to stay inside. Plus I was given two different kinds of hot chocolate :)

Warm Christmases make me think of the first scene in Almost Famous.

Christmas in the 50s yesterday was a little strange, but nice. I jogged for the first time in months.
