    Time Event
    12:25p
    I'm not a happy traveler
    So I originally booked a flight to San Jose departing 11:10 am Wednesday (tomorrow). Sometime last year Orbitz informed me the departure time had changed to 11:55 am, 45 minutes later. Fine, no problem.

    Well, just last night I got a "get ready for your trip" email from Orbitz. I read it and suddenly discovered my flight time had been changed to 9:10 am! What the hell, people! I'm gonna have to go to bed 2 hours earlier than I planned if I don't wanna fall asleep at the wheel and crash on my way to the airport! When did this get changed?

    I called Continental just now and was told that [1] Continental has no other nonstop flights available tomorrow (there's one at 6 pm but it's booked solid), and [2] this change was made back on October 13.

    So, concerning [1], the agent mentioned a 5 pm flight with a stop in Salt Lake City, but I decided to stick with what I have, figuring that taking a connecting flight will increase the probability of my luggage getting lost. Concerning [2], did Orbitz notify me and I just missed the message somehow? I'll have to dig through my email files later and check, I guess.

    Current plan
    Right now I have three options:

    1. Go to bed way earlier than I usually do, and hope to get enough sleep and be able to wake up enough around 6:30 am to drive all the way across town to the airport without falling asleep at the wheel and crashing.

    This is the least desirable option; too dangerous.

    2. Get a taxi to take me to the airport tomorrow morning.

    This is probably what most people would do.

    3. Drive across town tonight and look for a motel room near the airport, then make the short drive to the airport tomorrow morning.

    This will probably cost about the same as a taxi ride, and it sounds like more fun, so that's what I'm going to do. :}

    4. Find everybody whose bad decisions are making my life hard and kill them.

    This has three problems: [1] It won't solve my problems, because new people will step in and take their places, and it'll be back to business as usual. [2] The list of people includes employees at Orbitz, Continental Airlines, and the federal government, which pretty much assures I'd never get out of prison. [3] All of this ain't gonna help get me to Further Confusion any easier.

    So, motel it is.

    Jeez, Maw...
    I believe I just now heard a Duracell commercial on Dad's TV saying something about Duracell batteries being used on the space shuttle or something, and then an announcer said something along the lines of, "If you think this technology is just for outer space..."

    ...then apparently you think we should be a society of peasant astronauts, launching rockets from our thatched-roof cottageeeeeeeees. :}

    Or perhaps out of barns or grain silos. Maybe we should be astronaut farmers!

    "Paw, after you get the wheat threshed, be sure to pick up those batteries and CPUs from the general store."
    "Jeez, Maw, cain't we use some of that stuff on the farm? I'm gittin' mighty tired of assembling halogen lights by the light of an oil lamp, an' orderin' advanced telecommunications gear via Pony Express. Couldn't we just--"
    "No, that stuff's for outer space only! Now get crackin'!"

    (Almost done packing, then I'm heading out to the airport to look for accommodations for the night. See everybody at FC!)

    Current Mood: silly
